We provide recreational field hockey for Chatham Borough, Chatham Township and Green Village.  We are teaching girls and boys to be better teammates and stronger players through the love of field hockey.  We offer instructional clinics over the summer and have league teams in the fall.  We welcome all players!

Greetings CFHC Players and Parents and welcome to the Fall 2020 season...

We are finalizing our plans for the Fall season... and here is what you NEED to know:

• Start Dates - Wednesday 9/16 for grades 5 to 8; Saturday 9/19 for grades 3 and 4
• Location - All practices will take place at Shunpike Turf (unless otherwise announced) 
• Covid - returning to play this season means some differences from previous years
  • One Time Waivers - there are two waivers that need to be completed by every player and volunteer  
    • CFHC Waiver - is our club waiver.  Click on the link or visit our webpage to complete it online.
    • Chatham Recreation Waiver - is required by Chatham Rec and School District of the Chathams in order to use their facilities.  Must be printed and brought to your first practice. 
  • At Every Practice or Game - Each participant will be required to complete a symptom survey and submit to a temp screening (less than 100.4) in order to participate in any CFHC event (including away games).  
  • Program Preparation Plan - CFHC is required by the NJ DOH to maintain a program preparation plan that outlines our plan to comply with all guidelines for a safe return to play.  
• Teams - We will be running two teams at each the 5/6 and 7/8 grade levels this year.  Rosters will be split evenly by both grade and talent to form two even teams at each level.   Rosters will be larger than they have been in past years.  
• Games - Our game schedule this year will be limited to 6 league games and no tournaments. 
• Playing Time -  will be harder to manage this season due to the larger roster sizes and fewer games.  Players will NOT be penalized for missing practices or games due to illness.  Larger rosters mean that if you need to stay home... you can and should stay home!
• Pinnies  - All players will receive a pinnie.  Please bring your pinnie to every practice.
• Uniforms - All players in 5th to 8th need a uniform kit.   If you registered to play and either don't have or didn't order a uniform for the season, please drop me a note to let me know... and don't worry... we always figure it out!
• Equipment - Players must be properly equipped in order to participate in practices and games.  We CAN NOT lend or allow players to share equipment this season.   Pro Tip:  Many field hockey sticks look alike.  Make sure you players can identify their stick by putting a name tag on it.   
• New Goggle Rules for 2020 - Cage style goggles are no longer required at the High School level.  Since our rec club follows the High School guidelines, we will not REQUIRE goggles for the 2020 season.  CFHC continues to highly recommend protective eye wear for players in  3rd to 6th grade.  For our players in 7th/8th grade program... protective eye wear is optional and a matter of preference.
